What’s missing is the camaraderie of the sisters, who each are gifted with some magical power. They are 7 daughters born of a 7th daughter — hence the magical coolness. And you miss those connections and the magic of that great house. In each of the previous books, the women rallied to aid each other with their special powers. Lately, it seems like these Alpha males come to their rescue. (I mean — how many times can Joley get whacked/blown up/pushed down/have a headache without Ilyla coming to her rescue?)

Still, it was an easy day read, even if I did get annoyed when Feehan inserts Russian love phrases into Prakenskii’s sentences like: “Ya lublu tebya.” Altho, it was cool when she referred to a concert in Anaheim. (I live in Orange County so that was a nice ref.)

If you’re familiar with Feehan and like her story lines, you always know that the woman tames the dude. And you know she’s not finished with this 7 daughters magic line.
